On the plus side, it'll heal pretty quickly.
That it will. I was lucky i felt it cut and stopped my hand or i'd be missing about a quarter inch off the side of my finger! F*(& a 1k edge is sharp!!
I'm glad it's not on my face and won't stop me from shaving.
I cannot count how many times I have cut myself honing.
I got myself like that a couple of months ago while using a barber hone. I know exactly the feeling.
In the Immortal words of Dr. Norman Shumway, bleeding always stops, this to shall pass:)
My worst razor cut ever was due to a honing mishap
I was passing the razor through my leg hair to see if the 1k was popping my leg hair above the skin, it was, and on my way up had a momentary lapse of concentration and VOILA sliced finger :(
Nothing a little super glue wont fix!( super glue, crazy glue)
Works for me all the time! I work in the printing field just imagine a continuous roll of paper travelling at 70 mph and you happen to just touch the edge, now that a paper cut! I hold the cut skin together apply a couple of drops of crazy glue to seal it and good to go!
hmm, no way to hold this together... i just tried spreading some with a qtip.... qtip stuck and ripped the skin even more.... FML :(
reapplied glue with no spreading, just a nice coating. worked like a charm
For a cut that large I do initially just what Martin103 said, but as a second step I lay a used drier sheet over the area then apply another layer of super glue. Once the reinforced layer dries I trim the drier sheet. This really helps in areas that flex as much as a finger has to.
Just make sure you have cleaned the wound to prevent infection. Sealing an infection into the wound is about the worst thing that you could do.

If you have some insta set it'll set the glue immediately, but it'll burn like hell for a minute. That's what I usually do when I glue cuts.
Take it easy with super glue on cuts, some super glue react violently with organic matter.
Stupid question perhaps, but why are you guys cutting yourself in the first place??
So, you just stole that pic from the web, you didn't really cut yourself?
No Lemur, lol, that's really my fingers... I did it while honing a Thiers Issard Supergnome for a guy down in the states.
Last time I cut myself was also on a TI, hmm!
A TI Spartacus that had a bad crack 15 mm from the nose, it's on its way becoming a small travel razor now!
The guy who had it got so sad when it broke he was going to throw it away, I'll fix it up and give it back!
About 1/4 inch deep and a nice big flap, fun isn't it?
Sure, need to decide how to make it first!
When i cut myself it was pure stupidity, been sitting polishing it by hand for an hour, got bored and started watch a movie at the same time and ooops!
I didn't use CA, i used needle and thread! ;)
Brooksie, Is the glue holding up?
Have yet to get a decent cut, a few impressions here and there but no full on cut on the fingers. Don't get me wrong though, I am waiting for it to happen. Just like when I used to play paintball, you are bound to get got sooner or later.
THe glue is doing it's job! It raised up a fair bit with blood in certain spots and looks disgusting but it's good :)
Hell, I am still curious. How was the bevel??
Minty! The TI was NOS and I sold it on the classifieds here. Went through my progression ending on my Ozuku with just water. 3 passes and no irritation. It was strange shaving with a 3/8 when i'm used to using 6/8 and above. In the 'open areas' of my face it was a little difficult to use but around the chin and mustache it was actually quite a pleasure!
that reminds of a super dull razor i was sanding the blade on .. i guess after the 325-2000 grits it got sharp ..lol.. i had one spot near the edge i lifted the blade to get and was just doing down strokes on ( spine-edge) , 4 strokes in my finger was lower then the blade while goin to spine .. i think without my nail i would of lost the tip cause thats where the blade stopped ...lol... i learned a lesson though ...lol
Ive cut myself like that in the middle of service at work (I own a restaurant). Without even thinking I stuck it in salt and then cauterized it on the flat top and didn't miss a beat. I would not recommend that, but it worked in a pinch. I cut myself all the time and have never been let down by super glue.
In the goldsmiths shop we used ammonia on cuts, usually saw cuts, jewellery saws cut like a knife!
It stings alright but stops the bleeding instantly, you do not want to get blood on silver, it can stain it badly.
Save on the glue next time; heat the spine of an old Wade & Butcher over an open flame, then cauterize it. :beer2:
